2022 Final Super-Moon and Aquarius Full Moon August 11th

What transits are occurring, full moon journal prompts, moon gaze meditation and what to expect energetically

This Thursday we will observe the final super moon of 2022.

A super moon occurs in conjunction with a full moon when the moon is specifically orbiting at its closest point to the Earth.

In other words, there will be heightened full moon energy in the atmosphere that can be harnessed and utilized.

Thursday’s full moon greets us in the sign of Aquarius whilst the Sun is in Leo as we are in the midst of Leo season.

Since it is a super moon, it is highly suggested to enjoy time outside, soaking in the energy of the moon that Aquarius is here to teach us and have us reflect on.

Full moons as always, help illuminate our inner worlds and brings light to aspects of ourselves easily buried in the veil of darkness.

Introspection is heightened during full moons as they are often called cosmic spotlights.

The sign of Aquarius is known to evoke feelings of intuition, progression, and inventive ideas.

Under the Leo Sun, which already stimulates creativity, this full moon should provide us with the steady mind where new thoughts and ideas can emerge.

Aquarius is a sign that reveals, and since the full moons are all about illumination, now is the time to find out what is going on inside of you and discover what has and hasn’t been working.

It is a good time for creatives to start showcasing their talents to the world and exhibit Leo confidence while doing so. Push back against the doubt and fear and harness the energy of pride.

During these times, negative energy can try to sneak in and be illuminated as well, so it is important to monitor your emotions and remain attached to the positive situations and people existing in your life.

Aquarius lunation helps us embrace inner emotions and feelings while teaching us to not allow them to dictate our lives. Instead, find a way to transmute these feelings in expressive ways.

The fire sign of Leo exists in opposition to the airy sign of Aquarius.

As we witness summer coming to its peak, and most of the burning days are behind us, we look to cooling circumstances that reminds us of that yin and yang energy that rules the Universe.

As we anticipate the coming of a new season, so must we also reflect on the past seasons of our life and determine what has been working and what has not.

For example, you have committed yourself to being less lethargic. You have tried to go to sleep earlier and eat more greens but you have not been able to create the habit. Now is the time to make the necessary changes to really go after that micro goal. Make it a habit to read before bed to calm your self down or take a magnesium supplement. Start your day off with a quick green smoothie in the morning so you know you have gotten your servings in for the day quick and effectively.

Our ego-self serves to protect us but, if out of alignment, can cause us harm, is heightened during Leo season. Allow the introspection and inner world work that occurs during Aquarius full moons balance out our perhaps, overworking egos.

Important Transits

Your ego is particularly important to pay attention to at this time because of a transit that is occurring simultaneously.

The Sun is applying to an opposition with Saturn in Aquarius, along with the moon. This simultaneous conjunction sets us up for feelings of tension and pressure to perform and live up to our external or internal expectations.

Just because you did not fulfill your new habit to perfection in the last season, does not mean the pressure is on to succeed now. Just like us, the moon exists in phases, and as we phase in and out, we change, and become brighter.

Ensuring discipline and taking accountability are good themes during this full moon.

On the opposing spectrum, another transit is occurring with the Sun and Moon separating from their squares to Uranus and the North Node in Taurus.

If you had something unexpectedly amazing that felt like fate occur near the beginning of this month or end of July, you are really allowing that gift from the Universe to sink in. By accepting the blessings in your life, you open yourself to the frequency of receiving more, and abundance will be more readily for you.

Moon-Gazing Meditation

Moon-gazing is a powerful practice that you can perform as a part of your Full Moon rituals.

It is an intentional experience that derives from the yogic technique Trataka or steady gazing.

The aim is to fall into a trance like state, as if in meditation, but with your eyes open and observing the beauty of the moon.

To begin, you want to sit in an open space either inside or outside, wherever you have a full visual of the moon. Gently close your eyes and inhale, as you exhale open your eyes and fix them on the moon. Observe the moon with curiosity, taking in its shape and colour. As you inhale, feel yourself taking in the cooling effects of the moon into your body, filling yourself with healing light. You can continue this practice for as little as 3 minutes up to 30 minutes.

"The ancients poetically called meditation 'being pierced by the moon.'"

The benefits of this practice include a raise sense of peace and calm, an activation of your parasympathetic nervous system that regulates mood and other body functions, reduced anxiety, and increased cognitive function.
