My Morning Glowing Green Smoothie

Fight inflammation, eliminate toxins, and get your greens in for glowing skin

It is so important to start your day with healing foods that will have you glowing from the inside out.

When we are asleep our bodies are working hard to digest yesterday’s food, filter through what is good and what isn’t and repair all damage we acquired throughout the day from our internal and external environments.

By starting your day with the healthiest foods your body can eat, these vitamins and minerals flood through your body giving you an energy kick in the morning, and moves along waste with aids in your digestive and detoxification processes.

I also believe in the crowding out method whereby if you eat something healthy before your next meal you “crowd out” what you may eat bad after that meal. In other words, eating a bowl of fruit before lunch or dinner kills the desire for something sweet after that meal, and nourishes you with healthy, calorie dense, foods.

For breakfast, I always recommend a greens smoothie for the crowd out method and your main breakfast contain more fruit.

Just from this smoothie alone you are getting 4 servings of veggies to start your day, 1 serving of fruit, anti-inflammatory herbs, 2 servings of superfoods, and 2 servings of water for hydration (which is also key in the mornings)!

You can always modify the dragon fruit for another fruit like pineapple, mango, or something in season. I like to eat dragon fruit during the summer because it is in season.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 yellow dragonfruit

  • 1/4 cucumber chopped

  • 3 medium celery stalks chopped

  • 1/2 medium sized frozen banana

  • handful of kale

  • handful of spinach

  • 1 tbsp flax meal

  • 1 tbsp alma powder

  • a couple sprigs of parsley

  • 1/2 thumb of fresh ginger root

  • 1 1/2 cup of water

Recipe:

Add all the ingredients into a blender and add the water last. Blend until smooth and no chunks. Pour into a mason jar and enjoy.
