Moon phases can reveal so much about what is happening in our internal and external environments. Our phases of life are just that, phases, time that comes and goes so quickly it is invisible to the naked eye. For the most part, we are unaware of time which is why one day we wake up and summer is already gone or we are suddenly already 30 years old.

The things out of our control, whether it be seasons or age, allow us to enter new phases or chapters in our life to reflect this coming of anew.

Being conscious of the moon’s many phases allows us to be in tune with nature, Mother Earth, and everything the Universe provides for us. We, after all, are recycled beings of light who rely on the cyclical nature of the Universe to shift our energy and bring about positive change in our life.

In case you were unaware, the Earth is orbiting right now. We are in constant motion and with that motion other elements and matter is moving as well. Motion creates energy and just as Sir Isaac Newton detailed for us centuries ago, energy in motion produces a change in matter.

As the moon orbits Earth, it creates shifts in energies that we feel here on Earth.

'The Moon has been up there as long as evolution has been taking place, and lunar rhythms are embedded in the life cycles of many organisms,' - Dr. Tom White

There are circalunar rhythms that many animals and organisms live by that effect their eating and sleeping behaviors. Of course there is also the theory of “watching out” for crazy people on days of full moons because the energy pull from the moon can spiral humans into insanity. But is it insanity or just energy confusion from an un-awareness of how to handle the increase in energy available to us during the times of these lunar events? Perhaps that’s too woo-woo for you, but let’s explore what astrologists and meta-physicists believe can be possible during this particular lunar phase today on June 28th 2022.

The four primary phases of the moon occur about a week apart, with the full moon being it’s most dazzling appearance. The first quarter of the moon phase began on June 7th, full moon on June 14th, last quarter on June 20th, and finally the new moon today on June 28th.

Today’s new moon we will enjoy in the water sign of Cancer. So what does this mean?

Cancer season began on June 21st, around the Summer Solstice. Just as the beginning of Cancer season brought a change in climate, this new moon will signal a shift in our way of thinking and habits we form.

As with every new moon, you won’t be able to visibly see it in the sky as it hides in the shadows but you will feel it’s impact. That in itself, is metaphoric to understanding you do not have to always be seen to be heard.

The sign of Cancer is ruled by the moon to begin with. so this will be a double lunar experience. This sensitive sign allows us to dig deep within ourselves and ask ourselves what we need to feel safe and comfortable. Although allowing ourselves to feel sensitive can reap positive reward, sometimes, if we do not move with appropriate awareness, the emotions can cause us to feel overwhelmed, so take it easy on yourself as you open yourself up.

This zodiac sign also signals maternal and homebody energy that will make you want to be close to your favorite people and family members. Take this time to feel gratitude for the people you have in your life that make you feel safe and secure with who you are.

It’s also a great time to start nesting in your home to feel optimal comfortability. Maybe buy a new plant, candle, or change up your bed sheets to a new color, something brand new. Start to really take care of your space (buy a duster!) and be aware of the things you are holding onto that are just taking up space but providing no meaningful value.

Cancer also being a water sign means today/night is a great time to get into some water. If you are near a natural body of water, take a dip in it. If not, you can always opt for a comforting bath with your favorite Epsom salts and natural smells like lavender or eucalyptus. Light a candle and grab your notebook/ journal to begin writing your manifestations and intentions for this next lunar cycle.

Manifestation & Letting Go

This new moon has a heightened emotional charge attached to it so get ready to feel more emotional then usual (especially if you are a Pisces like me!)

  • The best way to purge these feelings is by using a journal or notebook and just write down every negative, painful thought you have been using to set yourself back in life. Maybe that is unworthiness, unhappiness, anger, not being able to forgive, emotional or physical pain, hurt from someone you love, overly vain, jealousy, victimhood, anything that has contributed to your negative emotional frequency just write it all down. Then scrunch up that piece of paper and throw it in the trash, rip it into pieces, or (very carefully and safely) light it on fire and watch it burn. Release who you used to be, and prepare to become who you want to be.

  • Next, you are going to want to practice manifestation. The New Moon occurs the same day Neptune stations retrograde in Pisces so this energy helps you become clear about your visions and let go of fantasies. Become crystal clear about what you want in the next 6 months and write it all down. Feel your vision taking form today amongst this water energy. Once you plant the seeds, make plans for how you are going to help them grow.

  • Now is a good time to also start creating moon water. Moon water is a good way to help your manifestations come into fruition. By charging an open glass bottle of water under a new or full moon, it brings an abundance of energy into that energy source. Every morning you can whisper your manifestations into the water before taking a sip, combining charged energy with your bodies energy.

Journal Writing Prompts

Become clear on what you want and write it down using these prompts:

  • What is the vision for the life I want?

  • What are my core values? Am I living my values?

  • What am I passionate about? What brings me joy?

  • What is my life’s purpose? What is my mission?

  • What or who should I avoid in to order to live a happier and more fulfilling life?

  • What old patterns do I need to let go in order to achieve my dreams?
