Homemade Flu Fighting Tea Recipe

You’re going to want to try this tea tonic anytime you feel a tickle in the throat to beat the symptoms before they arrive

This pungent tea uses the gifts the Earth provides us to nourish every cell of our body.

The ingredients active in this tea fight inflammation, are anti-microbial, anti-fungal, dispel mucous, and gives your immune system the kick it needs to fight any bacteria or pathogens that make their way into our delicately crafted bodies. They all boast high amounts of antioxidants so combined together, make a powerful antioxidant cocktail that your body will love.

A lot of these ingredients are common health hold items but even the ones that aren’t can be found at any local grocery store.

Let’s take a look at some of the ingredients in this tonic and what they provide for our health.

Ingredients:

Lemon Juice: In the colder months Vitamin C is a must have antioxidant in your diet. Vitamin C along with other vitamins found in lemons can help relieve sore throats and aid in your digestive processes.

Cinnamon: This herb has powerful medicinal properties. It is loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. Fighting inflammation is key during the winter season to prevent mucous build-up and clear the nasal cavity. It is also a potent antibacterial.

Ginger: Ginger is one of the best anti-inflammatory herbs on the market. It can improve coughs, lower fevers, fight off infections, and reduce headaches. All symptoms of the flu that ONE herb can battle on its own.

Cloves: Cloves, like cinnamon, are loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. They also coat your throat with anti-bacterial properties that support clearing your airways making it easier to breathe, taste, and smell when you’re in the middle of a cold/flu.

Turmeric: This herb is powerful for fighting any range of diseases or small bacteria infections. It can reduce inflammation and fight off common flu symptoms. It can combat certain viruses by strongly down-regulating the levels of extracellular infectious viruses.

Honey: A powerful anti-microbial, honey is amazing for fighting infections and bacteria. Not to mention it gives teas it sweeter flavor making them easier to consume.Honey is probably the most powerful substance at fighting coughs and other throat ailments.

Cayenne: This spicy herb provides a real kick in the immune system. Relieving symptoms like stuffy nose, post nasal drip, and congestion this spice is incredible in small doses. (Too much might have you on the toilet for a long time).

Recipe:

1 serving

Prep time: 3 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups water

  • half a lemon juice

  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 tsp of cinnamon)

  • 3 slices fresh ginger

  • 1/4 tsp cloves

  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric

  • 1 1/2 tbsp raw honey

  • 1 pinch of cayenne

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients (except honey) to a pot and bring to a boil

  2. Once boiling reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes

  3. Add honey and stir, adding more if necessary

  4. Pour tea through a strainer and drink while warm

If you can’t drink the whole tea in one sitting, store the remainder in the fridge for future use.
